Border Leicester sheep are known to producing a beautiful, shiny, lustrous yarn. The Kiparoo Farm sheep are raised specifically for their fleeces and the flock is managed using practices that produce top quality fleece for beautiful yarns. The sheep are sheared twice a year at optimum times, before lambing in the Spring, and before breeding in the Fall. After shearing the fleeces are sorted and packed, then sent out for scouring (washing) and spinning. Annie works closely with the spinnery to design the yarn. Once the yarn is sent back to the farm the real fun begins – the decision about colors and dyeing.
